StarGazeR is getting upset!!!! I want to purchase a nice copy of the Quran. I mean a really nice one, leather bound with beatiful Arabic artwork and inscriptions. It will go nicety with my copy of the Interlinear Bible which is also leather bound with gold lettering. I have googled and googled and it is not an easy item to find. I have placed a bid on ebay for this one. (IMG:http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/808/quranlc2.jpg) This is sort of what I have in mind. This one was a gift to an American soldier from a Saudi Arabian banker during desert storm. I would like a new one, but I will gladly take this one if I win the bidding. |

Well the guy I am bidding against really wants this copy a lot. He has out bid me again. From the pictures of it there is some slight curling of the pages which indicates some moisture damage, so I am going to drop out of the bidding on this one. So, I'm still looking. |

The look is not important. Just nice leather is also good and everywhere to be found. Whats more importent, is the content. How is the translation. But having a beautifull quran is always nice. Look at this lol (IMG:http://www.islaammail.com/iforum/uploads/images/bintoelislam/31A_Koran1.jpg) (IMG:http://www.islaammail.com/iforum/uploads/images/bintoelislam/887_KOran4.jpg) (IMG:http://www.islaammail.com/iforum/uploads/images/bintoelislam/1E4_Koran2.jpg) Kinda hard to put somewhere safe lol, but still nice. |

That is quite large. I'll bet it is really nice. The caligraphy and artwork is probably all done by hand. I would be afraid to keep it in my house. My cat always wants to mess with anything new I bring home. :o I want one similar, just smaller. I found a really, really nice one online, but it is Arabic only. It would make a nice collectors item and I might purchase it later, but for now I need one in English. I would like to learn Arabic. I think it looks really cool the way it is written. I mean the characters have a lot of style (for lack of a better word). |

QUOTE(sKiLLfrEE @ Jan 9 2007, 07:49 AM) Fooled you all, its the smalles man ever!! QUOTE I would like to learn Arabic. I think it looks really cool the way it is written. I mean the characters have a lot of style (for lack of a better word). You mean just to read or really understand? The second one is ALOT tougher. The quran is written in the most beautifull poetic way possible in Arabic language. Not only do the words rhyme (the Mekkan chapters especially), but they have a much higher meaning too. These days you can learn the language within a month if you take some classes and practice alot at home. Reading is not that tough to learn. |

Sorry for bringing up this old thread but I was browsing through old VIP forums material and then stumbled upon this... I was wondering, Paul, have you had any response from that Islam foundation you e-mailed? Have you actually had the conversation and if so, how did it go? Luc |
