Revised Voobly Balance Patch Changelogs We have had 9 Voobly Balance Patches at the moment of writing, which means 9 changelogs as well. These changelogs have now been rewritten into a single format to make it easier to read. And in recent times discoveries have been made about the patches that invalidated the old changelogs, warranting a correction. Please do not read the changelogs you can find in your mod folder anymore for any patches before 4.0 since they are inaccurate. If you want to read anything about the patch or refer to it please use this post or the post where you can find the complete no patch to 5.0 list which you can find here. Voobly Balance Patch 1.01 - Released October 5th, 2014. -Spoiler- Discussion thread: click here. Balance Changes: • General - Wall hack armor reduced from 65% to 64% (excluding Gates). • General - Removed the -10% hack vulnerability for Walls from the Stone Wall upgrade. • Poseidon - The Argo gets the hero flag. Due to this change The Argo is no longer affected by: Chaos, Traitor, Shockwave and the Frost Giant special attack. You would for example only get 9 wood from a tree that had 10 wood left due to a rounding issue. • Hades - Gastraphetes can now be garrisoned. • Set - Converted Caribous now convert nearby herdables and are affected by Traitor. • Ra - Rain no longer creates an effect above Docks/Fishing Ships. • Nephthys - Leviathans now use the aggressive stance. • Osiris - Hippolyta cant be targetted by the special attack of the Mummy anymore. • Osiris - New Kingdom Pharaoh's movement speed increased from 3.6 to 4.0. So that they are no longer slower than the basic ones. • Horus - Tornados can't be manually controlled anymore. • Heimdall - Undermine now affects Mirror Towers. • Njord - The Kraken's special attack can now be used on Atlantean Fireships. • Skadi - Animals of Set & converted animals & neutral animals are no longer unaffected by the Frost god power. • Atlantean - Oracle Scouts can now be garrisoned. • Atlantean - Fire Siphons are now able to hit buildings from high/low ground at max range. • Atlantean - Atlantean Citadel Centers now provide favor. • Atlantean - (hero) Destroyers’ bonus damage VS buildings now affects: Titan Gate & Tartarian Gate & Underworld Passage. • Kronos - The Healing Spring can't be deconstructed anymore. • Hyperion - The Satyr's special attack now doesn't always miss all spears but one when you're not standing next to your target. • Hyperion - Transport Ships can no longer carry Nereids. Overall these changes mean the god power is nerfed. Locust swarm hack damage increased from 20 to 30, splash damage range increased from 6 to 9, and damage versus Farms increased by 25%. Norse: • General - Raiding cavalry's line of sight increased from 8 to 9, Medium Cavalry now increases their line of sight by an extra 1. • Loki - Hersir and Hersir upgrades have been reverted to their original state. ---: Hersirs start with their full movement speed boost, 0.42. ---: Eyes in the Forest's cost reduced from 5 to 2 favor. ---: Hall of Thanes' movement speed boost for Hersirs is back at +0.42. • Heimdall - Safeguard now increases building hitpoints by 10% (excluding Town Centers), Safeguard can now be researched in towers or walls. • Heimdall - Undermine now damages all buildings, except for the Titan Gate and god power generated buildings. ---: Deals approximately 50% of total hitpoints worth of damage to most buildings and kill Longhouses(at full effect). ---: Damage dealt to Town Centers increased from 630 to 730. ---: Damage cap increased from 6000 to 10000. ---: The UI for Undermine has been modified to be less confusing. • Bragi - Flaming Weapons' damage increase for Heroes of Ragnarok increased from +55% to +72%. (partially undoing of a nerf) • Tyr - Fenris Wolves' pack boost increased from 1.16 to 1.18. (partially undoing of a nerf, it was buffed to 1.20 before) Atlantean: • General - Cheiroballistea's damage bonus vs Hero Destroyers reduced from +400% to +300% (to match its bonus vs non-hero Destroyers). • General - Hero Katapeltes' damage bonus vs siege increased from +100% to +150% (to match that of a normal Katapeltes). • General - Previous buff to Atlantean Hero cost (-30%) removed. They now cost their original prices, atty villagers still price reduced. • Gaia - Channels' cost changed from 100G to 100W. • Gaia - Economy Upgrades in the Economic Guild and Dock have their discount increased from -30% to -35%, and they research 25% faster. • Prometheus - Valor's amount of charges increased from 2 to 3. (undoing of a nerf) Bug Fixes: (some slight balance effects) • General - Harter's Folly relic no longer affects the Hippocampus, Raven and Pegasus twice. • General - Automatons, Prometheans (Offspring), Dryads, and Minions now have the mythunitinfantry tag, meaning they are now affected by some myth unit special attacks. • General - Sphinx (1.08), Phoenix, Phoenix from Egg, and Stymphalian Bird (2.16) now have a proper favor bounty (giving favor for Norse). • Atlantean - Hero Citizens can no longer be the target of certain myth unit special attacks (Chimera, Nemean Lion, Satyr, Manticore, Centaur, Fire Giant, battle boar, and Avenger). • Atlantean - Hera's Thundercloud Shawl relic now affects Hero Oracles. • Zeus - Myrmidons receive their damage bonus against Priests. • Anubis - Sea snakes can now attack the Water Carnivora and The Argo. • Oceanus - Carnivora (land) has its obstruction radius reduced by 50% to make it easier to cast it effectively in land battles. • Oceanus - Water Carnivora can no longer one-hit kill The Argo with its special attack. • Sekhmet - Citadel Center has its stats improved so that it's no longer worse than normal Town Centers. ---: Garrison limit increased from 20 to 25. ---: Masons now affects it. ---: Accuracy increased from 0.8 to 0.9. • Hathor - Crocodopolis' line of sight bonus for Petsuchos increased from +4 to +6, so that their range is no longer greater than their LOS. • Thoth - Phoenix from Egg's damage bonus vs heroes reduced from -50% to -75% (to match that of the normal Phoenix). • Thoth - Phoenix's crush damage no longer damages other allied Phoenixes flying nearby. • Osiris - Mummy has its unit tag switched from mythinfantry to mytharcher, so it no longer gets affected by special attacks that don't work vs ranged myth units. • Osiris - Atef Crown now properly improves the ranged attack of Mummies, +40% pierce damage (previously no effect). Map Changes: • Added a new map, Tundra Pools, outside of any map set. • Maps belonging to the standard "Random" map set changes: - Midgard's fish has been modified to be more random. They no longer spawn in the same spot every game. - Previous patch changes to push gold mines away from Towers partially reverted. Gold mines can now spawn slightly closer to Towers. Voobly Balance Patch 4.0 - Released December 19th, 2019 -Spoiler- Discussion thread: click here. This patch includes 2 special new files: • A change to the main menu, the campaign button is replaced by a second multiplayer button. (This will fix the issue of players getting stuck in the campaign menu. You can still access the campaign via single player.) And the top button is changed into a recorded games button to make it easier to view recorded games. • The menu which you open by pressing F2 (default) where you can see all the units & gods & upgrades now displays the correct costs for patch 4.0. (This menu has been bugged since 2003 (ES...) and since modding can fix that and nobody wants their costs to display incorrectly it is included in the patch now.) Balance Changes: • Poseidon - Hippolyta's attack animation length reduced from 2.0s to 1.5s. • Hades - Maximum Sentinel spawn range increased from 25 to 27. (this should prevent Sentinels not spawning due to gold mine placement in combination with map changes) • Hephaestus - Colossus' gold cost reduced from 350 to 300. (undoing of a previous nerf) • Egyptian - Pharaoh's damage vs non-Atlantean Villagers reduced by 50%. This damage can be restored by researching the "Hands of the Pharaoh" upgrade. • Egyptian - Hands of the Pharaoh upgrade now becomes available in the Classical Age instead of the Archaic Age, now increases Pharaoh's damage vs non-Atlantean Villagers by 50%. • Set - Available food amount of Gazelle of Set reduced by 25, Giraffe of Set reduced by 50, and Hippopotamus of Set reduced by 75. (undoing of a previous buff) • Ptah - Shifting Sands' potential to shift enemy units reduced from 800 to 600 hitpoints worth of units. • Ptah - Wadjet's damage vs non-Atlantean Villagers reduced by 50%. • Kronos - Cost of timeshifting Towers & Palaces reduced from 200W 100G to 100W 75G. • Leto - Automaton's damage bonus vs myth units increased from +200% to +400%. • Leto - Hephaestus Revenge no longer gives Automatons +100% damage bonus vs myth units. (undoing of a previous buff) • Oceanus - Bite of the Shark now gives Hero Murmillo +150% damage bonus vs myth units. • Oceanus - Weightless Mace now gives Hero Katapeltes +250% damage bonus vs myth units. • Hyperion - Chaos' amount of charges reduced from 3 to 2. (undoing of a previous buff) • Hyperion - Satyr's hitpoints reduced from 400 to 320, cost increased from 225W 18Fv to 250W 20Fv. • Rheia - Behemoth's hitpoints increased from 550 to 625, regeneration increased from 1HP/s to 2HP/s. Things that Previous Patches Got Wrong and Needed Fixing: (this refers to the original changelogs and not the ones found above, as they're of course correct) • General - The Boiling Oil attack of Towers now does 50% reduced damage vs Hetairoi. (when this damage reduction was introduced in a previous patch the Boiling Oil attack of Towers was never altered) • Poseidon - The Argo is no longer affected twice by armory upgrades. (this was caused by giving The Argo the hero tag) • Isis - Monuments' hitpoints increased by 25%. (this was unintentionally nerfed by 25% in patch 1.01, so it has been reverted) • Atlantean - The cost of heroizing Citizens has been increased from 155F 30W to 225F 45W. (this was lowered in a previous patch, and when the reduction on heroizing was later removed, the Hero Citizen's cost wasn't restored to its original value) • Atlantean - (hero) Citizens' damage bonus versus siege (excluding Siege Towers and Helepolis) increased from +100% to +150%. (to compensate for an earlier patch fail where this damage bonus was accidentally nerfed by 67% instead of 50%) • Atlantean - Oracle Scouts can once again escape the Frost god power by heroizing. (all other Atlantean units can do this, but 1.01 removed this for the Oracle Scouts) • Oranos - Oracle Scout's movement speed reduced by 10%, they now have the same movement speed again as when playing Gaia & Kronos. (patch 1.01 gave Oracle Scouts the human tag, which made them benefit from the Oranos movement speed bonus, something that was unintended and is thus now removed) • Leto - Volcanic forge's research time reduced from 40s to 30s. (this was already 30s before but due to mistakes with hotfixes it was put back to 40s again) • Helios - Heka Gigantes' hack & pierce armor is increased from 44% to 45%. (When a previous buff to their armor was reverted, the armor was reverted to the wrong number, this is the original value now) Bug & Consistency Error Fixes: • General - Units with lightning attacks will no longer sometimes be stuck between attack animations (affected units are SoO, Man O War, Petsuchos and Mirror Tower). • General - Docks are now able to attack the Hippocampus. • General - All the Titans now have the same animation length for each of their attacks (or their cumulative is equal). This affects the attacks that Titans use when attacking units or buildings. (Before this change the Norse Titan was the weakest because it took longer for that Titan to perform the same attack, with equal damage.) • Hades - Perseus will no longer walk to the target of his special attack after petrifying it, he will now instantly fight on just like other units who have a similar special attack. • Hades - Fixed a bug that would decrease gold income for a Hades if he had researched Vaults of Erebus and then garrisoned the relic Ring of Nibelung. • Osiris - New Kingdom Pharaoh's damage bonus versus myth units has been reduced from +700% to +400%. (Regular Pharaohs also have +400%; a previous patch change equalized the movement of the extra Pharaoh to the original Pharoah, this is now the last thing that needed equalizing) • Atlantean - Female (hero) Atlantean Citizens have their "cutting down tree" animation reduced from 2 to 1 second. This will make them no longer cut down Gaia Trees slower than male (hero) Atlantean Citizens. This does not affect gather rate in any way. • Atlantean - Burning Pitch gives Hero Arcus & Hero Turma +50% damage bonus vs ships, down from +150%. (All other archers receive +50% damage bonus vs ships and there is no reason why the heroes should get more since they also don't get more versus building etc.) • Theia - Lemurian Descendants now affects Atlantean heroes as well (+9 LoS). • Hyperion - Fishing Ships can no longer be targetted by the Chaos god power. • Atlas - Harpies (neutral flying creatures) can no longer be sucked into an Implode. Previously, if one was sucked in, the sphere would not detonate. • Atlas - Son of Osiris can now be sucked into the Implode, previously he was immune (it will deal 140 damage). • Hekate - Nereids are now affected by Mythic Rejuvenation. Map Changes: • The "Random 2017 PartyMaps" map set has been replaced with the "Random BillGregg Tourney Maps" map set. • Maps belonging to the standard "Random" map set changes: - Medium/Far Gold Mines - On all maps, gold mines can no longer spawn quite so close to 2nd/3rd town centers. The minimum avoidance range was increased by approximately one to two storehouse widths, depending on spawning specifics. - Decreased the maximum spawn range from Town Centers for starting gold mines very slightly (excluding Anatolia, Frozen Wastes, and Ghost Lake). Starting mines can no longer spawn quite so far away from the Town Center (the distance is fairly minimal, perhaps the width of half a storehouse at most). Voobly Balance Patch 5.0 - Released March 29th, 2021 -Spoiler- Discussion thread: click here. Map Changes: • A small reminder that all maps in the standard "Random" map set (Painted Desert too now) still support additional observers without corrupting the recorded games (last team method, explained here). • All maps in the patch now support the brand new much improved observer commands as described here. • All maps in the standard "Random" map set now support the merge mode as also described in the link above. • Maps in 5.0 remain very similar to 4.0, but have received various improvements as mentioned below. • Maps belonging to the standard "Random" map set changes: - Fixed a large amount (!) of cases where key resources like gold, hunt, or fish did not spawn properly or at all in both 1v1 and teamgames. - Maps now always warn after loading if any important objects such as settlements, gold, or sources of food failed to spawn (should rarely occur). - Starting hunt should now always spawn either in starting line of sight for all players or out of starting line of sight for all players. - Starting gold should now always spawn within tower line of sight (but may barely be in tower range). - Adjusted forward settlements to reduce the frequency of two settlements spawning very close to each other (note that this does not imply that settlements now spawn closer to the players). - Midgard should now always spawn the first group of 3 fish directly behind the player (seen from the center). - Mediterranean should now always spawn the first group of 3 fish directly in front of the player (seen from the center). - Frozen Wastes now properly spawns gold mines in 1v1 and teamgames alike. - Painted Desert now properly spawns gold mines in 1v1, preventing cases where one player could end up with a majority of mines on their side. • The no patch maps' prefix has changed. Previously these maps were prefixed with the word "Classic". Now they are prefixed with "z (ESO)". The z is added in order for the maps to show up last in the map list to prevent missclicks. "(ESO)" replaces "Classic" because doing it this way makes it clearer what version of the game these maps belong to. • The "Random BillGregg Tourney Maps" map set has been replaced with the old "Random 2017 Party Maps" map set. • The "Random All" map set now uses the 5.0 versions of all maps (if they have them) and added to that map set are Frozen Wastes, Blue Lagoon, and Painted Desert. • Added a new "Random All (ESO)" map set which is the same as the "Random All" map set but it only uses ESO maps. • Added an empty AI for convenience. When playing on the fast random set without observers, this AI can be added and set to team 3 in order to provide observer commands to the people watching the recorded game. • Added Secluded Expanse, Mirage, Calm Shores X, and a reworked version of Nile Delta (these maps are currently NOT part of any map sets). - All 4 maps support additional observers and merge mode. - Due to the map's design, Nile Delta only loads properly for games with 2 teams, with a maximum of 6 players per team. - Due to the map's mirrored design (indicated by the X in the map's name), Calm Shores X only loads properly for games with 2 equal teams (1v1, 2v2, ...). Balance Changes: • Zeus - Heracles' cost changed from 350F to 200F and 150W. • Hades - Achilles' cost changed from 350F to 200F and 150W. • Egyptian - Hands of the Pharaoh upgrade now becomes available in the Archaic Age instead of the Classical Age. (undoing of a previous nerf) • Egyptian - Mercenary Cavalry hack armor reduced from 40% to 20% and pierce armor reduced from 45% to 35%. • Ra - Skin of the Rhino is no longer available in the Temple. (undoing of a previous buff) • Ra - Rain no longer increases the caster's Laborer's wood gather rate by 50%. • Ptah - Wadjet's damage vs non-Atlantean Villagers is now reduced by 25% instead of 50%. (partial undoing of a previous nerf) • Anubis - Feet of the Jackal's favor cost increased from 5 to 10. (partial undoing of a previous buff) • Bast - Eclipse's damage bonus for Minions increased from +37% to +50%. (undoing of a previous nerf) • Hathor - Roc's hack armor reduced from 30% to 10% and movement speed reduced from 4.5 to 4.0. • Thor - Dwarfen Mine's gold amounts increased: Archaic Age from 500 to 750 and Classical Age from 1000 to 1500. • Odin - Lone Wanderer's research time increased from 25s to 35s. • Freyja - Thundering Hooves' food cost reduced from 300 to 250. • Forseti - Troll's movement speed increased from 3.6 to 4.0 and track rating increased from 5.0 to 6.0. • Atlantean - Fire Siphon's maximum range reduced from 13 to 11 (undoing of a previous buff and nerfing it more now), Engineers now increases Fire Shipon's range by 4 instead of 2. • Gaia - Heroes are now 30% cheaper (excluding favor). • Gaia - Lush's maximum radius increased by 25%, lush's decay rate decreased by 56%. • Hyperion - Chaos now always converts 3 Human units instead of always 4 (undoing of a previous buff), recharge time increased from 240s to 260s. • Hyperion - Satyr's population cost increased from 3 to 4. Things that Previous Patches Got Wrong and Needed Fixing: • Heimdall - When Undermine was changed to affect all buildings it was supposed to damage buildings to 50% hitpoints at full effect. This went wrong for the longhouse resulting in longhouses taking about 50% more damage than they should have. Now longhouses take the appropriate amount of damage which is 50% of their hitpoints at full effect. Balance Related Bug Fixes: • General - Town Centers under construction will now receive damage from Earthquake and Tornado. • Egyptian - Laborers now build wall medium pieces at the same speed as other wall pieces (previously they built them a little slower). • Anubis - Sea Snakes no longer show up as idle military. • Sekhmet - Slings of the Sun now properly applies its 30% damage bonus for Slingers vs Hypaspists & Throwing Axemen & Axemen. • Atlantean - Hero Citizens now get their damage bonus vs Set Animals properly applied to their ranged attack instead of their melee attack (they can't use their melee attack versus the animals therefor it did nothing previously). • Hyperion & Hekate - Chaos and Lampades Special Attack no longer work on Pegasus & Hippocampus & Raven & Oracle Scout. • Hyperion & Hekate - Chaos and Lampades Special Attack now work on Hades Shade & Serpent & Sea Snake & Sentinel. Bug & Consistency Error Fixes: • General - Transport Ships can now carry Caravans. • Ptah - Shifting Sands' visual indicator reduced from 12 to 10 range, the real range of the god power is also 10 so this is done to match the visual indication to the actual effect. • Hathor - Locust Swarm now shows up on the minimap. • Horus - Tornado will not longer show up for 60 seconds on the minimap as an active god power, it will now show up for 20 seconds which is its actual duration.
