Why is education so expensive there? I doubt it's better than in Europe, and if it is, it can't be that much better to justify the expense lol

In the US supposedly 80% of students go to community colleges so they get 80% of the money. You can go to a community college with a scholarship or two for free while actual good colleges make you pay a poopie load.

Europeans pay way more taxes, but get better healthcare and education support. In America you don't pay as many taxes, but if you want healthcare and/or education, you're going to be paying a poopieload.

Signing up for uni costs about 550€ here, then the books cost about 200€ per semester, so 2000€ for my 5 years. Then a room to stay can go anywhere between 250-400€/month for those 5 years...

Also, in Belgium, uni's and colleges are just the buildings where you get class. No dorms, no parks, no huge sport fields/centers, no huge old fancy buildings, no sororities (at least not like in america) etc etc. Just buildings with classrooms and some restaurants for students.

I think it's somewhat like that in the rest of europe as well.

Yep, just that we have old fancy buildings too ( eclectic style, I wish people would still build that way)

about $1000 per subject. In 1st and 2nd year you do 8 subjects per year. In 3rd year I only did 6 sub/ year.
Government loans you the money, you have to pay it back when you got a job that pays over $30000-40000/year (i think, not sure on the exact number)
