Dear Basketball, From the moment I started rolling my dad’s tube socks And shooting imaginary Game-winning shots In the Great Western Forum I knew one thing was real: I fell in love with you. A love so deep I gave you my all — From my mind & body To my spirit & soul. As a six-year-old boy Deeply in love with you I never saw the end of the tunnel. I only saw myself Running out of one. And so I ran. I ran up and down every court After every loose ball for you. You asked for my hustle I gave you my heart Because it came with so much more. I played through the sweat and hurt Not because challenge called me But because YOU called me. I did everything for YOU Because that’s what you do When someone makes you feel as Alive as you’ve made me feel. You gave a six-year-old boy his Laker dream And I’ll always love you for it. But I can’t love you obsessively for much longer. This season is all I have left to give. My heart can take the pounding My mind can handle the grind But my body knows it’s time to say goodbye. And that’s OK. I’m ready to let you go. I want you to know now So we both can savor every moment we have left together. The good and the bad. We have given each other All that we have. And we both know, no matter what I do next I’ll always be that kid With the rolled up socks Garbage can in the corner :05 seconds on the clock Ball in my hands. 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 Love you always, Kobe  |

when you're in his dad and age playing 38-40 minutes a game, putting up high numbers (25-40; sometimes even more), and even guarding the best player on the opposing team aside from him handling a majority of the offense, ex. he'll guard kyrie irving or chris paul, stephen curry dude isn't superman is all i'm saying, there is a t-shirt a friend of mine bought from champs and has a x-ray of a hand with 5 rings on each of the phalanges and showed all his hand injuries and i don't even think he talks about them; him ruining even 3 years off his career by tearing his achilles tendon and still willing to play should mean some sort of incentive to anyone |

QUOTE([DoD) Hellsravage,Nov 30 2015, 12:52 AM] the more we learn with advanced metrics, the more I believe players like Kobe are overrated I disagree. The more we learn about advanced metrics, the more I believe we learn about which system is the best. I think we are finding out isolation plays are really inefficient, however, does that make the player that excels in isolation not as good? No, it just means the game evolves. Basketball is a team game; it relies on a system/teammates to succeed. |

Kobe will be known as a tremendous competitor and one of the best ever, don't get me wrong. But I think the consensus was Kobe was Top 6 of all time a few years ago. Now, I am not sure he would crack top 10 for many people. |

People get caught up in the moment. People are comparing Steph Curry to prime MJ now 11. But seriously, the league has changed tremendously in the last couple of years (ever since D'Antoni Suns teams). More players have more efficient, lower output stats (higher shooting efficiency, less shots) which makes the "modern" stats look better. Players should be judged relative to their era. |
