A sphere is put in the tube. What trajectory would the sphere take upon exiting? A or B? (IMG:http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb480/MeerFantom/clip_image003.gif) I was surprised by the results from Johns Hopkins 11 This post has been edited by [XxX]King: Mar 27 2012, 06:32 PM |

It should be a straight line... Shouldn't it? I don't know much about physics though haha. |

how heavy is the ball, how long is the tube, are we assuming earth gravity? |

A obviously, though it shouldn't go in a straight line due gravity. |

No fooling anyone here apparently. The red lines were purposely extended just to illustrate the trajectory btw, not the distance. If both lines were realistically short it may be difficult to discern their difference. The results: http://books.google.com/books?ei=usJyT8ntG...izontal&f=false (click the page then scroll up a little) 33% of students, from Johns Hopkins University, chose "B" for that picture. The results were even scarier on the 2nd picture.
