(IMG:http://i.imgur.com/09GRUmn.png) Having abstinency pains after the finished RTS League season? Good news! FROST_dornets and RTS-Sanctuary are here to patch you up with a brand new team game tournament for some serious prizes! Cold weather is engulfing the northern countryside. Freezing temperatures are turning lakes into solid ground, snow is changing boring landscape into art, and while sun is playing hard to find, elks and caribous don't seem to particularly mind. Yet there is something else that doesn't feel quite right, some movement in the endless night. Wolves seem to be aware of it quite all right, but local settlers... are still sleeping tight. Winter darkness breeds all kinds of dangers, but the worst ones always come from strangers; Will you be the ones to fight their terrors, or the ones to cause their tremors? Take to arms and pick your side, call your friends from far and wide; Don't wait for the bell's last chimes, join the battles... of the Frozen Times! Format and Settings Our 3v3 team game tournament open to everyone will feature a winter theme, as you could have guessed from our short entree, being played only on maps featuring snow and ice - simply the home of the FROST clan the sponsor hails from :) You'll get to play on well-known maps like Tundra, Ghost Lake or Midgard, but also on some special ones you may have just now heard of - Ghostland, Molde or Black Sea! Check out the Frozen Times Mapset in the Rulebook Format will be quite simple as we want a straightforward tournament with the least possible chokepoints, meaning Single Elimination Bracket with Best of 3 until Quarterfinals, and the last two rounds being Best of 5, to get a bit more goodness out of the top teams :) Overall settings will be the latest tested version of the Voobly Balance Patch, and yes, the more keen of you have guessed that a new version is under construction :) Currently the default for the tournament is set to 1.05, but if the new version is ready and tested by the time the tourney begins, we'll use that one :) Otherwise we're going to play standard Conquest team games with the only extra rule being no triple-civving - so forget triple Atty or Norse, no matter the major gods. No cheating and abusing is presupposed, we're here to have fun, remember :D Team and Player Requirements As for the teams themselves, they are to consist of at least 4 active players to make sure you can play each week of the tournament without any delays, and also to have replacement in case of connection issues - experience has taught us this is simply needed, and we believe your experience e.g. from RTS League will tell you so as well. If you foresee difficulties in your ability to play every week, add more active players to your roster - don't expect anyone to wait for you to finish your 2-year holidays :) Also be aware of time zones in the composition of your team and the difficulties they may pose to your ability to play every week on time. One of the team's players needs to be designated as the Team Operator who will be diligently scheduling, visiting forums every day and making sure his team plays on time, and be a representative of the team towards the admins. Reliability, decent English, ability to communicate with both his players and the opponents in a timely manner (again, daily and faster) are key. Everyone participating in the tournament needs to play on his Main Nick he is known under - we say NO to smurfing. All team's players are also to be registered with the sign-up so that it's clear who's playing with whom. And, last, but not least, we urge everyone to act respectfully towards your opponents and in the spirit of fair play - don't be late to games and keep your salt for the ice on your doorstep :) Prizepool And what do we play for you ask? Well, a buttload of money, of course! :D 1st place - 240€ 2nd place - 140€ 3rd place - 80€ 4th place - 40€ + Game of the Round for the early rounds worth 18€ divided amongst all 6 players, serving as a motivation prize to support the amount of games played - literally anyone can reach this award, all you need to do is play all your games and put in all the effort and creativity into your gameplay - no need to be the toppest skiller in the game :) We're hoping to stream plenty, if not all of the games played, and for this we will of course need a bit of help from the community casters, so we're hoping you guys are ready to help the other players have some fun :) The key efforts in covering the tournament will have something little extra awarded to them at the end of the tournament. Those good at math might have noticed the numbers are a bit short of 600€, and that's because the motivation prize and streamer rewards are floating numbers, which means that if anything remains after them being handed out, that remainder will be added to the main prizepool, so all the more love to the players. Timetable Probably the last thing to talk about is the timetable for the tournament: Sign-ups: 23rd-31st January Tournament starts: 1st February Each round lasts: 1 week, Monday-Sunday (yes, the first one will be a little shorter, but you can already make plans for the weekend before the tourney starts, can you not? :)) Estimated tournament length: depends on the number of sign-ups, but count with at least 5 weeks. How to Sign Up That seems to be about it for the basics, but before you post the sign-up form below, make 1000000% sure you read the actual Rulebook with all the details to know what's up, as nobody's really interested in post-game "I didn't know that :'-(" You are the masters of your fate. Frozen Times Rulebook If you then agree to have some cool team game fun with your friends under these settings, join the Frozen Times tournament by posting this sign-up form in the comments below! CODE Team Name: [team identification] Player Roster: [Voobly nickname + link to the profile + time zone for all players] Team Operator: [Voobly nickname + link to the profile + time zone + alternative means of contact] Team Is Fully Aware of the Tournament Rules and Confirms Ignorance Is No Excuse: [your answer] I guess all that remains now is to spread the great news about the tournament amongst your friends, get acquainted with the Rulebook, sign up, and in a few weeks, have fun! :) Feel free to ask any questions about the tournament below - but only after you read the Rulebook, which should answer all your questions in the first place. |

Hopefully they're just getting organised, it might be a bit tougher for them as they might not necessarily have the experience from RTSL, but after all, RTSL also gets clans that are in just for fun and B-teams, I mean it's not like in the 1v1 tournaments anyone can expect to beat Magic+TheMista when they play (probably besides Sensuy, I'd imagine he thinks that everytime :D), and people still sign up :) But I think it would help if everyone during random games and streams mentioned the tournament and that it's open for everyone, and also that there's a prize that anyone can win no matter the skill - the Game of the Round. If you could do that for the tournament, would be nice & appreciated :) |
